Myofascial Release:

Cupping & Gua Sha

Myofascial release is a hands-on treatment method that is aimed at releasing tension in the muscles and fascia beneath the skin. It involves applying gently sustained pressure or suction to the skin, typically to reduce pain or increase range of motion in a particular area. Physical and emotional trauma, continuous stress, inflammation, scarring and invasive surgical procedures can limit range of motion and increase tension. Through cupping and gua sha we are able to promote elongation and relaxation to the underlying muscles and fascia. Fascia is a type of densely woven, covering and interpenetrating connective tissue that exists around/between every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as well as, all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. It is not just a system of separate coverings, it is one continuous structure that interconnects every single physical element of our body. When in a healthy and pain-free state, the fascia is a relaxed and flexible web that moves in configuration. This is the main goal of myofascial release, and the root dis-ease of many different pain conditions.
